Best Season for a Wedding
in Marrakech.
By Ocre Weddings · 12 min read · Updated April 2026
Choosing the right month for your Marrakech wedding is one of the most important decisions you'll make. The wrong month means 40°C heat, uncomfortable guests and rushed timelines. The right month means that extraordinary golden light, snow-capped Atlas Mountains, and a city at its absolute best. Here is the honest, month-by-month guide we give every couple we work with.
The quick answer
If you want a single recommendation: October, March and April are the three best months for a destination wedding in Marrakech. They offer the most comfortable temperatures, the most extraordinary light, the Atlas Mountains at their most dramatic, and the gardens at their most lush.
The broader "safe" window is October through April. Outside this period — particularly July and August — daytime temperatures routinely reach 40–44°C, which makes outdoor celebrations genuinely uncomfortable and potentially unsafe for elderly guests and young children.
Photographer's secret: The "golden hour" in Marrakech between 16:30 and 18:30 (30–60 minutes before sunset) produces a quality of light that professional photographers describe as unlike anywhere else in the world. It is the reason Marrakech wedding photographs look the way they do. Schedule your ceremony or first look for this window regardless of which month you choose.

January is cold by Moroccan standards — evening temperatures can drop to 5–8°C, which requires heating systems for outdoor receptions and pashminas for guests. The Atlas Mountains are deeply snow-capped (spectacular for photography). Key advantage: venue availability and pricing are at their most favourable. Suitable for indoor-focused celebrations, or desert settings with proper heating production.

Slightly warmer than January but evenings remain chilly. The almond trees begin to blossom in the gardens. Excellent for couples who want a cooler, quieter Marrakech experience. Good venue availability. The city is not yet in peak tourist season so logistics are smoother.

One of our top three recommendations. March brings the orange blossom season — the city literally smells of flowers, and the gardens are at their most lush and colourful. Temperatures are comfortable for both daytime and evening ceremonies. The Atlas Mountains are at their most spectacular: deep snow-capped peaks behind every palace garden backdrop. Book venues 18–24 months in advance for peak March weekends.

Very HighVenue pressure
The most sought-after month for Marrakech destination weddings. Warm enough for full outdoor evening celebrations, cool enough to be comfortable. The light is extraordinary. Gardens in full bloom, Atlas Mountains still snow-capped. April weekends at Royal Mansour and Selman book out fastest — often 18–24 months ahead. If April is your target, contact us immediately.

Warm and pleasant, though daytime temperatures by late May can reach 32–35°C. Time ceremonies from 17:00 onwards to avoid the heat of the afternoon. Evening receptions are comfortable. More venue availability than April. Good option for couples who want peak-season ambiance with slightly less competitive booking.

22°CEvening temp

Daytime heat is significant. Outdoor ceremonies must be planned for early evening only (18:30+). Evening events are pleasant once the sun sets. Significant pricing advantages: venues offer 20–30% discounts in June. Suitable for evening-only desert events with no daytime outdoor programme.

We do not recommend July or August for destination weddings in Marrakech under any circumstances. Daytime temperatures routinely exceed 40°C. Evening temperatures remain above 25°C even after sunset. Guests — particularly elderly relatives and young children — will be genuinely uncomfortable. The gardens are parched. Venues are largely empty for a reason.

Temperatures begin to drop towards the end of September. Evening events from 18:00 onwards are manageable. Late September (from the 20th) can be surprisingly good — the summer heat breaks, gardens are recovering, and venues are accessible. Good pricing. A viable option for couples who cannot find October availability.

Our top recommendation, alongside March and April. October has everything: warm golden light, comfortable evening temperatures, lush gardens recovering after summer, and the Atlas Mountains beginning to show their snow caps. The city is beautiful, the air is clear, and the energy is vibrant. October weekends book out as fast as April. Contact us immediately if October is your target month.
22°CDay temp
13°CEvening temp

Excellent month with slightly lower competition than October. Evenings are cooler — provide pashminas or wraps for outdoor guests. Daytime light remains extraordinary. More venue availability than peak spring/autumn. A strong choice for couples who want peak-quality conditions with slightly more flexibility on dates.

8°CEvening temp

Cool evenings require heating for outdoor events, but the Atlas Mountains are heavily snow-capped — creating stunning photography backdrops. The city has a quiet, magical quality before the holiday period. Early December (1st–15th) is our preferred window. The Christmas and New Year period (20 Dec–5 Jan) brings higher pricing at all venues.

Final advice: The best month is the month when your preferred venue has your preferred date available. If you have a dream venue — Royal Mansour, Selman, La Mamounia — secure the date before optimising for season. A November Royal Mansour wedding is more extraordinary than an October wedding at a lesser venue.
